In our practice at Pear Tree Dental, we’ve been working a lot with Invisalign Braces, which also means we’ve gotten a fair bit of questions about them. Since we know there are a lot of people out there with curiosities on the topic, we thought we’d write this article, to give you an understanding of Invisalign braces, and how they might help you.

What are Invisalign braces?

As the name suggests, Invisalign is an innovative product used for orthodontic correction that is invisible, and gives the impression of regular teeth. The main idea behind Invisalign is that traditional braces are largely a thing of the past. Metal braces are known to cause a lot of discomfort, both literally (inside the mouth), and mentally, with many wearers becoming bothered by their appearance.

So the idea with Invisalign is there must be a better way. Invisalign braces are a clear set of dentures that are fitted over your teeth, and gently pull at them, to give you a straight, and more appealing denture. Invisalign gives the impression of a natural smile, even while you’re wearing it, and has the huge benefit of being removable.

Who is Invisalign for?

Wondering if you or your child might be a good candidate for Invisalign braces? Well, that would be best discussed with your dental expert, but pretty much anyone can wear Invisalign braces, from adults to teenagers, and even older children.

What conditions do Invisalign braces correct?

Invisalign braces can be used for a number of purposes, such as:

When do you wear Invisalign braces?

As we mentioned earlier, Invisalign braces have the huge benefit of being totally removable, something that traditional braces do not. Invisalign braces need to be worn all day, every day, in order to successfully correct your denture, except when you are eating, brushing your teeth, or flossing. Forgetting to remove the braces while doing these things can lead to the accumulation of bacteria inside the denture, and further dental issues.

When wearing Invisalign, you will have to come into your dentist’s office every six weeks or so, to make sure your teeth are progressing as they ought to.

How do we create Invisalign braces for you?

Your dental expert will determine whether or not Invisalign braces are right for you through a consultation, and X-rays. They will then fit you with a Invisalign model, in order to measure your denture exactly, and then create a wearable set of braces tailored to your own unique set of needs.

Once your Invisalign braces are ready, you will have to come to your dentist’s office, to get them fitted, and be instructed on wearing them. Invisalign braces have the huge benefit of looking and feeling more natural than traditional braces, so if you feel they might be for you, we recommend contacting your doctor today.
